Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup
OK, April's here. Memorial Day is coming. I have a group of at least one, maybe two boats coming from Austin. Mine is the Potter 19.
Memorial Day Cruise
Plan 1. Drive down Friday, Launch into Offats Bayou, Have dinner somewhere in Galveston, Sleep on the boat, Set Sail early morning, Sail to Texas City Dike, Anchor out, swim in have Dinner in Texas City,
Sleep on Boat, Sunday Set sail early, sail to Clear Lake, go shopping, have dinner somewhere there abouts, sleep on boat. Haul Boat Monday morning, drive home.
I'm open to other, perhaps better plans, preferring locations within five hours of Austin.

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup
You may have to avoid the Texas City Dike since the oil spill. The barriers were still up and security zone last week. Use the quickie guide for anchorage locations, like the Blue Hole, and restaurants on the water. We will be in Offatts Bayou then too. Book a slip now, since Moody Gardens fills up with TMCA boaters and Pelican Rest with yacht clubbers. Anchoring is good but traffic (jet skiers) ride right next to your boat at full speed. Be careful.

I have a trailerable, and plan to anchor out in Offats and off the dike, the only issue I can fore see is clear lake, since I'm unsure about anchoring any where in there.
I hoping that two months of wind and tides, especially northers has spread that oil south into the gulf.
Thanks for the advice

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup
Yes, me too . We will be at Seabrook shipyard within the month I believe. Things are going well here in LA.
I hope we can have a double bayou meet up, or at the very least a good old fashion dock party.
Cheers!

You won't get me to DB unless the bugs are zero. Bad experience ;-)
On the other hand I'm always down for a party!

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup
There is a small, but friendly, group at Rockport Municipal. Cheap place to live and has what seems to be a very active yacht club. Good location for walking or biking places. Have not been to any of the other Marinas in the area.

Re: Texas Cruisers Forum Meetup
I have a full boat going to sail from Galveston to Clear Lake Memorial weekend.
Anyone want to have a party on the Dike or around Clear Lake, please let me know.
Any one in Austin or nearby can meet us for the planning and sailing meeting at Decker Lake Apr 26 at noon.
