Hi folks,

I am looking for a fair steel ketch. most important: storm proof pilot house and rigg.
No need to be freshly refitted but able to sail the med safely rigth away.

All goodies that make cruising very cold destinations safe and comfortable are welcome.

max. 150k
80k preferred.

So there is a 40’ Steel pilot house yacht, well built laying Lewisporte, Newfoundland. One step from Greenland. I looked at buying it.

In my estimation it would require about $30k and a couple of hundred hours to make her what I would want. That said her sale price is would keep her towards the bottom of your range.

She has a completely waterproof companion way that can be dogged down and a reflex heater. In her past she has been to South Georgia, Greenland, and done a circumnavigation.

She has good bones but needs some work.

I already have a steel boat I the same marina, just not pilot house.

May be would you be interested in my boat: Steel hull ketch, hauled in 2001 in North Germany, ready to sail away, 43 ft deck length, 52 ft LOA, long keel, well insulated, 2 heaters inside, center cockpit, 2 wheels hydraulic rudder, one completely sheltered, you can navigate several days whithout getting out of shelter. Perkins 4236 refit motor, complete electronic, lots of spare parts & workshop aboard. Actually in the West Med - south of France, 105 K$

I just saw a 53' steel ketch located at the marina in Torrevieja Spain. It is a Finish boat and the owner is asking 150,000 Euros. Don't know much else about it, but it looked in good condition.
