Recent Experience Walker's Cay Bahamas Customs

Hi,

Planning a trip to the Abacos and wanted to find out if anyone has recent experience clearing customs at Walker's Cay, Bahamas?

I've read a lot of conflicting information on this.

Thanks!!

Customs was setting up a new office in Walkers last year, but not populated then, might or might not have occurred by now. When we came through in 2015 customs was at the next island Grand Cay. When you get close call up the local Grand Cay marina on VHF and they will let you know.

You might call Rosies Marina on Grand Key, which is just across from Walkers. They would have the latest information.

From reading other reports and Bahamas websites I think this is the best option for getting the exact current status.

Re: Recent Experience Walker's Cay Bahamas Customs

I just came back from the Bahamas in August.
The Walkers Cay officials are at Rosie's on Grand Cay.
When I was there, she was set up in Rosie's restaurant.
I had no problems.
When you go ashore, ask at Rosie's dock how to find the Custom's Official

we also found customs was now on Grand Cay, up by the municipal offices and post office. it was a good place to check in, no difficulties.

Walker's
Have always checked in at Old Bahama Bay easy and quick. And legal.
Rule is the first available landfall to avoid any problems with Bahamas immigration officials.

When coming from Ft Pierce, Old Bahama, is against the Gulf Stream, and out of the way. The closest, Legal, place was Walkers!

Grand Cay still has the Walkers Cay stamp; they will boat over to check you in if you fly there but otherwise it's as reported; they were in the PO building but have moved to Rosie's...
