Have to climb several mast-attached steps to reach the top of the
mainsail cover, take off straps, turnbuckles and velco while balancing with one hand on the
mast. Then have to remove the ties under the boom while folding the cover progressively aft. At the aft end of the boom, have to loosen the mainsheet, swing the (huge) Park Avenue boom to one side, unzip the
bimini connector
and stand on the
cockpit coaming to get to the end of the cover that is tied off to the topping
lift. Have to re-center the boom with the mainsheet. Then the cover is stored in the
cockpit locker.
Reverse the above at the end of the day. I'm pushing 70 and the above is kind of daunting when just going out for a day sail. Is there ANY main cover that is fully "automatic" with a conventional main with lazyjacks? I'll add that we sail in the subtropics where the sun fries everything.
Thanks!
