57 foot two masted sailboat sunk off Point Loma San Diego

While sailing off Point Loma, I noticed this sad sight. Could not find any news of this sinking. VHF traffic suggested the boat went aground Friday or Saturday. Does anyone have the story on this boat?

Tom

Any update on this? How do you know it’s a 57 foot vessel?

Re: 57 foot two masted sailboat sunk off Point Loma San Diego

Hi Folks, it is a picture I took of the sunken vessel as I made may way back into San Diego Harbor. Boaters were calling in on Chanel 16 all day to inform the GC about the fate of the vessel. The CG radio operator seemed to not know of the event, asked for the location and if the reporter was wearing a life vest. By the end of the day, CG was making hazard to navigation broadcasts but no explanation of what happened. I never did get to the bottom of the story and I cannot remember where I came to learn it was a 57 foot boat.
