Books about sea...

Hello sailors,

I'm looking for good books (of course sailling related).
I found a new edition of the "sea stories" (see cover, looks pretty nice),

but there is a bunch of so called "sea stories"...

This one has also the narrative of the mutiny by Lieutenant William Bligh, but well any advice or recommendation would be great !

Thanks for your help !

Re: Books about sea...

Try a serach here on "books" since this topic, as you can well imagine, has been discussed many times before.

That's the beauty of forums with very good search engines. A little effort on your part can find lots of material.

Also: Jack London

A book about Cod,yes the fish,is an amazing read, the interconnections between the growth of Europe and the new world.
Another is titled Atlantic, a great read.
Sorry I do not have the proper titles.

The log of the Sea of Cortez John Steinbek
Very salty, though I think there are more grouper than cod.

Wow, I tried reading that three times, never got through it. Put me to sleep.
I found Fastnet Force 10 something, for example, that DID keep me awake.

So did Desirable & Undesirable Characteristics of Yachts. Now there was a fun read compared to Steinbeck.

The RN Naval Historical Branch have a set of Capt Cooks journals and one extra journal which someone used on a later voyage to the South Pacific. In the margins are some less than complementary comments in pencil updating the information. The comments were written by Capt W Bligh. The journal is of course now priceless. Sadly the branch isn't open to the public and we were only given a guided tour because of the work we do for them.
