Also a bit surprised you would motor on 2 engines anyway. Fuel economy wise you are burning twice the fuel for 20% additional speed?

Hi Monte,
The compressor is a Bauer Junior, Petrol
engine.
JUNIOR II high-pressure compressor, diving, ship compressor, paintball
I looked at options for the
electric but you need a large genset (bauer say its 2,2KW but no one has been able to tell me what the startup KW would be?) to start the compressor each time. The best low start compressor I have heard about is the NuvAir (230v/14 AMP),(
https://www.nuvair.com/store/mch6-portable.html) might be worth checking them out but they still wont start on the Honda 2K genset, think the startup on this NuvAir is still over 20 Amps but best contact them directly re the specs.
The Honda genset runs the 12,000 BTU nicely and also keeps the
batteries fully charged, Only PIA is that you have to have the space to move the unit around. When sailing at the stern, and then when at
anchor move the genset to bow area.
"Why Run Both Engines"
You need to run both engines around the Straits here as it is a heavily trafficked zone with very large ships, every
knot counts when you have a 150m tanker bearing down on you. Normally we try to run/sail as fast as we can in the first 70 nautical miles and then switch to
single motor or sail after we are well clear of the main
shipping lanes. Have tried sailing before (sail only) in these zones and its just a PIA as sail does not have right of
passage anywhere along the straits. This includes fishing boats that are everywhere!!!
