Hi from San Diego

Hi everyone, I am Alex. I love everything about the water, above and below ! Born and raised on a Mediterranean beach. Competitive rower, at that time did not like wind... Italian Navy Academy Officer. Swim a mile a day all strokes. Snorkeled all oceans. Obsessed by sharks. Sail 16.5/22/27's and my old Laser out on the ocean every free weekend. Joining this forum to help me start planning in a few years about getting a ~40ft may be back in Italy and sail it cross the Atlantic, Caribbean and the South Pacific.Need to build up more offshore experience first, will try sometime to crew a passage to HI. I am an electronic design engineer with an obvious love for everything technical. Practice daily with my sextant, love astronomy and astrophysics. Interested in fluidodynamics and aerodynamics, boats/hulls/foils and sails/wings design (books keep growing on my desk!). Can fix pretty much everything electric, hydraulic, mechanical. Very good cook and love poisson cru' and wine ! I think I can survive any situation ;-)

Well, alexp, welcome aboard CF. It sounds as if you have already got most of the skills you'll need to be a successful cruiser, if what you post is true--no offense intended, but such great quals, I have to wonder.

Beautiful, starry skies, crossing the Pacific.

Join the group, and have a good time.

A.

Re: Hi from San Diego

Update and "slight" change of course ! After a lot of dreaming about what boat, when etc... etc... I went by the rule saying that "the worst boat that you can buy is the one you buy next year" and got a Jeanneau SunFast 3200 in SD and now. Eyeing Hawaii and the Coconut Milk Run ! can't stop dreaming...
