Huntington east on LIS - Anchorages

Planning to head east from Huntington on the Long Island Sound Labor Day. Port Jeff first stop, will be first time anchoring. Would be interested in any anchorage recommendations between Port Jefferson and Greenport. Seems pretty sparse from Port Jeff east. CT recommendations also.

Also, any thoughts on a 4 hour achoring in the Sound itself maybe half a mile off the Long island coast for a snooze. Boat is a 30 foot mono 10,000 lbs. Anchor is 10 kg Bruce 50 ft 5/16 and 150 ft 3/4 rode. Can one anchor in the Sound? I'm assuming yes, weather permitting. Risks?

Thanks all

Re: Huntington east on LIS - Anchorages

Matituk is the only stop and very doable for your boat. Approx 28 nm

Time you trip through Plum Gut as current can easily be 3.5 knots.

Not a big fan of anchoring out in the open on the Bay.

Saybroke and Milford on Connecticut side, but I would choose Mattituk
