Adding Dinghy Davits to Jeanneau 389 even possible?

The full size swim platform is fantastic but does that make it impossible to install Dinghy Davits?

Any suggestions to add Dinghy Davits to the Jeanneau 389 would be great.

I put dingy davits on a 2009 Jeanneau 39i and I also added a 150 watt solar panel on the top supports. I can carry a 310 dingy plus 9.8 4stroke outboard. Let me know if you would like pictures and suggestions to make it carry extra weight. I bought the kit from Garhauer 909 085 9993. you assemble to yourself.

Sure! Pictures would be great.

However, I am not sure how much it will help since our transoms are designed completely different.

Without building a custom arch, I don't see where I could mount the davits.

I don't think it's an issue. The step folds up right? Even if it didn't I don't see an issue really.

REALLY?

Could you show me an example of a boat that has a full stern swim platform with davits?

I would suggest an Arch with Davits.

Sail Magazine did an article on them with several photos here:

An arch would be your best bet. Look at the arches Beneteau had for the 432. Fairly simple.

Rail mounted davits might work but would need extra support like stays to the toe rail but your teak rail would not work so the stays would have to go to the side decks with good under deck support.

Send a pic to these folks and get a professional opinion.

I don't even know anyone who has a swim step!
But what do you foresee as an issue?
-With davits and the step down, you simply pull the dingy up, initially it lays against the swim step, then comes up, swings in and rests against the stern above the step. You may have to push or guide it a bit at first, but no big deal really. I see no reason to have the step down with the dingy in davits anyway.
-With davits and the step up and closed it's no different than a normal boat.

???

Re: Adding Dinghy Davits to Jeanneau 389 even possible?

Make up your mind if you want a boat with a platform or one with davits.

Any SS fabricator will weld the davits for you. You just give them the dimensions and make sure where you attach this is plenty of extra backing. Lamination is thin on Jeanneau in the above water shell.

I would not add any davits. I hate davits on small boats.
