need help for sailing to Greece

hello，this is Sofia

our family plan to use our catamaran to visit Greece

maybe to Santorini first ，we are in turkey now，and have shen gen visa

our boat is Malaysia Flag，

does anyone know that what kind of documents I need prepare to visit Greece？

registration paper？ transit log？ anything else？

Greece —

In your first port of call ( be sure it is a port of entry ) the maritime police, possibly through an agent, will issue you with a transit log for non-EU flagged boats. Mine cost me €125 last year. You need it stamped in each port.

Your Schengen visa gives you as a person 90 days to stay in "Schengen Land". The boat can stay 180 days.

Thereafter it should be happy cruising.

Registration, Insurance, some kind of proof of competence (depends a bit on where you check in), passports, visa, crew list.

Don't check in via Rhodes, they are always very difficult. Try Kos, Leros, Katelorizo (via Agent).

maybe there is some choice for anchor or berth in harbour

If you enter through Rhodes, I recommend to use an agent. Otherwise it is a cumbersome process. I have used several times the services of Michalis Roditis. Efficient and reasonable price. Will arrange also a berth either in Mandraki port (middle of town) or the marina.
Santorini marina is usually full with local craft, complicated and silted entry. My advise is to leave the boatcin Ios and use a ferry.

Boat registration document from your flag country
Insurance policy with third party liability covered (if I remember correctly it needs to show at least 1 million $).
Crew list & passports.
If boat is owned by a corporation or the owner is absent: authirization letter for the skipper.
Starting end of Sept a new law governing entry, may need more over what is listed above. If I locate it, I will post it here.

Entering via Symi is very easy, and the people very helpfull. We did this last week.

You clear immigration by tying up next to the bell tower. After moving to the harbor wall, go to customs once they open (6pm) for the transit log €30, then Harbour police for stamping of log (a once only fee of €15).

The whole process took about 1 hour, no agent required.

this is my best choice ,I am really very near there，around 15 nm

does the harbour easy to get in ，and find a place to berth？

do you know how much is it？

Symi is usually crowded in the summer. It is best to come early noon as the last day yachts leave and the next day wave is not in yet.
There are long quays on north and south sides of the harbour. Some berths have water & electricity.
Careful with the anchor: depths rise quickly (need to anchor at considerable depths) and the holding is mediocre. The quantity of yachts cause many chain crossing occurences.
The bay and town are beautiful.
Price of mooring low.
In summer it is normal for a quaymaster to be around to direct you to a mooring spot.

Very easy to berth. Standard drop anchor and stern to on the harbour wall. A local harbour person will help with mooring. Cost me €22 which I think was €15 for mooring assistance plus €7 per night. Excluding power and water (another €15/night).

No problem finding a position last week but best to arrive before 5 pm as charter boats typically come in late and cause chaos.
