Katadyn PowerSurvivor 40E water maker , Alameda

Hi all,
I have a PowerSurvivor 40E purchased from Defender in Nov '15 that I have decided that I'm not going to use. I have mounted it in the boat but have never wired it or turned it on so it is completely unused. I am selling it with all the things it came with like the manual pump lever and pickling/biocide agent, with the exception of the filter housing and some of the water hose. So probably about $40 worth of the kit.
I paid $3600 and am asking $3100. Local purchase and pickup is best of course but I will ship conUS.

Cheers

Look mate. Most of us here are cheap so and so's. $3000 isn't going to draw much interest. I'm not saying you won't find a buyer, just that it might be a while....0

Yep you're right. There's no arguing that. I guess I just feel a need to start a little high to spare myself the indignity of losing a bunch of money just because I changed my mind. I'm sure the price will come down as my humility returns.

Good one, Aquila!

And now for something that might actually be helpful to you:

If I wanted to see what I could selll it for, without exposing yourself to a too-low price, I would try an eBay 28 days or so auction, with a reserve price you could live with and a Buy it Now option a little higher than that.

Good luck!

Matt.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't done the eBay thing in years since they went all political. But I guess it's probably the best option. I have a bunch of other stuff that has no future on the boat so I guess I better get cracking.

PS, anyone want a Harley? (Jk) (or not)

You may as well advertise it on here at the reserve price for a month first, at least you don't pay any fees if it sells. However, I would stick some photos up too.

Why have you decided not to use this watermaker?

Mostly it's a change in cruising plans. Originally it was just me and sooner. Now life has evolved into two or more people and later. So that means that not only will I need more capacity but I wont need it for a while. It seems logical somehow to sell it now and use the money for the continuing refit and buy a higher capacity water maker when its time to cast off.

I see. Yes it is a little smaller than what we would want, but would love to get our hands on something like this. Probably still a little out of our price range now but I'm sure someone will snatch it up. Let us know if you list it on eBay!

Where is it located and the bottom $. My 21 yr old ps35 crapped out and I'm trying to decide if buying a new on is worth while at my age even though I would like to take my boat to Central America again. All I would need is the unit and cleaners, everything else is already in place.

Its in Alameda CA. I'm thinking right now I'm willing to come down to $2800. I know that's still up there but I haven't even gotten around to putting it on eBay to see what I can get. I meant to pull it off the boat last time I was out and get some pics to post but somehow it didn't make it on a post-it so it didn't get done. Ill be sure to take some pics when I go out in April.
