mast unstepping for the rivers at Mediterranean France

Does anybody have a mast unstepping and transportation experience at the Mediterranean coastal France to cruise to Amsterdam by the canals?

Never done the trip personally however you have two options..
1/ Have the mast pulled in Marseilles and then lowered onto the boats coachroof and supported fore and aft by X frames and then lashed in place.
2/ Arrange for a haulage company to transport the mast to a b/yard of your choice in Holland for storage and where they can re-mount it on the completion of your trip.
Plus and minus points to both choices.
