Confiscated Food & Drink

We are leaving to sail down the coast of Mexico and then in early spring heat to the South Pacific.
Are there any food or drinks that will be confiscated in the South Pacific that we should know about so we can eat/drink them ahead of time?

Not to worried about Mexico, I lived there for 15 years, so am very comfortable with what we can and cannot do in Mexico. But the South Pacific and beyond might bring a few surprises!

Quarantine regulations change frequently, so best is to check ahead when you're about to leave for the next destination.

However, if you enjoy peanut butter, or maple syrup, best bring it with you. By the way, bees are subject to a virus, and some places will confiscate open honey.

Many places will confiscate your honey, opened or not. You can't even take honey products from North island to South Island in New Zealand.
Another one is anything to do with chickens or eggs including empty egg cartons.
And don't even think about trying to take any home preserved moose into New Zealand... or any home preserved meats.

Tahiti didn't seem to fussed about anything, Tonga is a bit stricter but didn't touch any of my stuff as I was only staying for a few days....

and also... all three of those places seemed pretty laid back re alcohol.... 2 up I had 18 bottles of finest Chilean red in the wine cellar which I declared and they weren't fussed... just don't push the envelope like the Brazilian boat in the Marquesas that was caught with an un-declared 300 bottles of vino on board recently...

We know things will be more expensive as we go. So will adapt.

In NZ anything home preserved will go ( the other week we were regaled by the quarantine lady at Marsden Cove with the tale about the canadian boat that turned up with pretty much an entire moose in bottles.... v upset when they lost it ). Not sure about the canned meat issue but not sure why you would be arriving with meat... plenty to be had both fresh and canned in NZ. I think meat from some countries may be ok.
Anything fresh...meat, fruit or veg will be confiscated.

Best to do your homework. Three years ago an acquaintance entered a South Pacific island ( I don't recall exactly where , maybe Tahiti ) They had bananas that had been purchased at their previous stop not very far away. BIG MISTAKE !!
Authorities freaked and bananas had to be handled as hazardous waste, hazmat suites and all. Tremendous expense to boat owner/law breaker
