Moving from land base to boat based - thought on the following

We plan to sell our house and move to a cruising catamaran.
We currently have a short list of Maverick 440, Balance 451 and Lagoon 42.

I am looking for feed back from those that use/live on those boats and cruise them long distance.

Thank you

Re: Moving from land base to boat based - thought on the following

Have you gotten any feedback? We're about 7 years out from becoming liveaboards and have a very keen interest in the Balance 451. Seems like the best blend of performance, price and comfort for us.

Thanks

D

Is the Lagoon 42 really in the same class as the other two?

Having just completed a several-years-long catamaran search, which resulted in the purchase of a 2018 Lagoon 42, I think the Balance 451 is a different class of boat as compared to the Lagoon. The Balance is probably a very good boat, larger, with much higher performance parameters, and was out of my comfort zone price wise. Although the Balance is a "new" boat, it is based on a design that is quite old. Based on size alone, it is in a different class than the Lagoon. Whether it possesses the quality touted by Berman is an unknown - although he is an accomplished sailor, he is a salesman at heart and has been for many years now.

I looked at a three Mavericks over the years, all had serious flaws - be very careful of these boats!
