2016 Tall Ships On The Great Lakes

I have been planning a return cruise on my own boat to the lakes to be able to spend a few weeks visiting areas I missed on the delivery in 2014. I just saw that the tall ships are returning this year and I'am going to make sure we are wherever they are when my daughter and grandkids are with us, I know they'll really enjoy seeing them and hope to get to tour some of them. Here is a link: TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Great Lakes 2016

I hope they don't use that map on their website to navigate, some of their visited cities are WAY off! LOL.

Re: 2016 Tall Ships On The Great Lakes

Thanks for the Brockville link. I would like to extend the cruise through all the lakes and possibly see the tall ships somewhere besides Chicago but that likely will not workout. We plan on taking our time up the Michigan coast and visit some of the towns along the way. Want to visit South Manitou island and Beaver island again, meets a friend a Mackinac island. Then head back down the Wisconsin side to Chicago, down the Illinois River and back to the Mississippi, UMR mm 283

The tall ships will be amazing to see, I hope you enjoy them, as much as I did during time they were in Lake Erie for the Battle of Lake Erie reenactment.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
I am originally from Peoria, Illinois on the Illinois River.
The IVY Club has been known as a good place to stop over.

Thank you for the recommendation, in 2014 when going thru Peoria we anchored out of the channel towards the top end of the lake. This time stopping in Peoria for fuel and to refill the water tank but mainly to let the grandkids get off the boat and run around may be a good idea.
