OK Hardware Detectives, where to I find this:

This special u-bolt assembly is on a 1.25 inch stanchion on a 1989 Tayana 42. Note the u-bolt clamp has an articulating ball head that extends out in a hollow neck with a hole for a clevis to mate with the swivel head of a block. That is what I need. The Harken block seems co-incidental as I cannot find anything like this on the Harken site.

I cannot slide blocks into place on my stanchions (like the Schaffer models, for instance ) because I have angled supports welded on halfway up, so a 1.25 inch mount like this would be perfect....

I have spent a lot of time in a lot of chandleries and never seen this, so hopefully one of you has...

You may need to bend and grind it a bit to get it on a 1 1/4 inch pipe.

Excellent thank you, I used their site search engine with almost the exact description and got nothing. I'll get one and see if we can adapt it.

I rather doubt the 1" will fit. Likely they made both sizes at one time, but only 1" now. I believe defender has some furler leads for 1.25"

Not sure what the application is but have you considered replacing this block with a soft shackle and low friction ring. Some variation of this

He doesn't even have to use a low friction ring if he didn't want that. You can attach a soft shackle to the clevis pin like this:

It adds articulation possibilities that the old block set-up didn't.

Have you tried Garhauer? They’ve helped me with several pieces to fit my 1 1/4” stanchions and rails. They may have to make it up for you but they are very reasonable and the quality is excellent. *(909) 985-7513‬. Talk to them don’t just look on the web site. Ask for Mark.

By the way, my Tayana 42 is also a 1989 model.

I like the idea of these. I wonder if they are slippery enough for the 7/16 dacron on my furler. I need several along the length of the boat, so that is why I was leaning toward ball bearing blocks.

Thanks I will try them next. I have used their blocks for mainsheets and love the simple, smooth, rugged design.

Harken got back to me and is not able to produce their little bracket in anything except 1"

Have you gone directly to Harken. Had difficulites getting a replacement track for my Harken traveler, ended up dealing directly through them. Was dealing with Defender but they didn't have a solution and told me to call them direct. The guy that handled it was in Florida though Harken is in Wisconsin. PM me and I'll give you his name and number.

Garhauer has been very accomdating in doing in modifcations of their production stuff for me and hear they also do custom work. The might be able to help Garhauer Marine Hardware -19058927

If this is just a furler line I would consider simple stainless rings wire tied to your stanchions using 100# monel leader wire. You will not be placing much load on the line.

If this is just a furler furling line then the low-friction rings work really well. Cheaper, longer lasting, less maintenance than a bearing block. Plus easier to mount.

Current website describes same pn to fit 28.5 mm stanchion???
