US Customs Decal

Does anyone know where the US Custom Decal goes on a monohull sailboat?

Anywhere you want. I put mine on the mast near the deck. The instructions that come with it are for planes, I think it says on the right side window in the cockpit. Just make sure you have the number written down somewhere as you'll need it when calling in (sometimes, other times they don't ask for it.)

Supposed to be within 18" of the normal boarding area I think.

Re: US Customs Decal

We kept ours in the paperwork folder and displayed it in the portlight when clearing in.

Used to do that but was told decal had to be stuck on boat/plane that it was issued for.

That's what they say on the instructions - I stuck it next to the companionway. They're also pretty clear that it has to be "affixed" not just kept with boat's papers. My philosophy is to avoid giving them reasons to get upset.
