San Carlos to La Paz, Baja California

I am sailing to La Paz from San Carlos the first week of April. Obviously I did the trip North, but never the one South. I was wondering if I missed anything on the way North. Does anyone have any suggestions for must see places along the way. I plan to go to the bakery in Santa Rosaria first and then head south. Where is the cove that has the mermaids that swim up to your boat with cold beers. Also was wondering about the mega hotel south of Loreto. Is this a nice place to stop and use the facilities for the day?

Re: San Carlos to La Paz, Baja California

If you find the place with the Mermaids serving beers, please post ! The hotel you are referring to South of Lareto is south of Puerto Escondido. Look for Ensenada Blanca. We anchored in about 40 feet a little bit in the open because it was crowded and we could not get good holding closer in, though it is definitely available. The resort is very nice, you can get an all inclusive wrist band day pass for the facilities, food and drink. When we were there in 2013 it was $60.00/ per person and well worth it. Depending on your tender you can beach it or anchor off the beach. We stayed 3 days.

Re: San Carlos to La Paz, Baja California

As you are standing in front of the Church in Santa Rosilia look to your right. You will see a the Green Tortilla factory of Love! Go get a kilo (or two) of the best damn Tortillas de harina on the Baja.

anchorages...the good thing about this time of year is that they will be mostly empty so you will have all the best classics almost to yourself.

Enjoy.
