Re: Corpus Christi, TX Marinas and Anchorage Info

Reviving old thread.

Came over to CC municipal marine today to take a look. Was pretty crazy with some kind of festival.

Was wondering how crazy it gets at the marina during the summer. We went down Lawrence t head and couldn't even see where boat owners could park. People's street looked quieter but the restaurants...l

What pier is the best for liveaboard? Looks like a lot of smaller vessels in big slips, so you pay by boat foot?

How is the wi-fi?

Is the pump out facility on the new piers up and running?

We are at Island Moorings in Port Aransas, and like it a lot, but CC would cut 45 min off our commute from Austin. Port A gets crazy but the marina itself is fairly quiet.

Should we think of CC municipal more like the boardwalk marina in kemah?

Thanks
E

Re: Corpus Christi, TX Marinas and Anchorage Info

Ocean Girl, We did not wind up in Corpus. Although the drive to San Antonio was about double, Kemah turned out to be a much better place for us. The Kemah Boardwalk was just too much of a circus for us so we wound up at a place called Waterford Harbor (not Watergate) off Marina Bay Drive. it was relatively small, well maintained, had great amenities and the people were friendly. If you want more info, send me a message.

Re: Corpus Christi, TX Marinas and Anchorage Info

Thanks Sea Wolf. We came from Waterford, my favorite marina I've ever live in :-). You'd think with all the rich boats and rich folks in houses it would be a snobby place, but nice nice folks. Great hurricane hole too, the best on the lake.

I know a few folks at CC marina so will try to get in touch with them. It was always a very sleepy little marina whenever I'd visit so was surprised at the large volume activity on Saturday. My husband is totally on board but I'm not so sure.

Anyways, thanks for the reply.

We spent several years at cc marina. We are now in port a city marina.

In cc marina:

Traffic can suck, especially when something is going on. First weekend of the month is a flea market. Bay yacht club is cheap and fantastic. Wifi is just ok. We put a long range antenna in and used the free wifi from the hotels.

The pump outs work fine on piers e-h. They are newer. The superintendent had a bunch of big slips put in with the "if we build it they will come" attitude and lost. They charge by the foot or the slip, which ever is more!

We switched to port a, and the extra 50 minutes from San Antonio sucks, but it is well worth it. We spent a year at Waterford and port a is WAY better.
