Australian charts for Android opcn

hey everyone, firstly, seasons greetings from "Darn under" 2ndly you should be advised that I'm computer illiterate. I've had open cpn on my laptops on the boat since my son bought me a navigation package via ebay, maps etc are on a disk and include detailed charts of my cruising areas in Victoria Australia. I had intended to use the laptop at the nav table feeding to a separate monitor viewable from the helm. but really there isn't enough room under the spray hood. I have a Wi-Fi depth sounder displaying on a galaxy 10 inch tablet, so thought Id buy another tablet to display opencpn, duly purchased, just not allowed to open it til xmas. thought id download opencpn to the existing tablet, went well and following the instructions was able to download the NZ enc, unfortunately these charts just don't have the detail. any suggestions on what charts I should buy or download. I had hoped to use the ones on the laptop, we even copied them to a usb drive, but have no idea how to get the tablet to use them, even if its possible, which I now doubt. In disgust I gave up and bought the navionics program, and whilst it has the map detail I require, it doesn't provide info such as cog, sog, bearing, compass display, satellite display etc, Any thoughts/ help greatly appreciated, cheers Peter

Did you get the Navionics+ ?.

That gives you everything above other than a compass display.

For a compass, display, I use a separate app called Field Compass+

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...s.fieldcompass

What I like about that one is that you can use it as a hand bearing compass and save up to three bearings - very useful for checking "risk of collision" situations.

IIRC, it's an in-app purchase. Go to Menu - Charts and Upgrades.

when I go to in app purchase it says my "navionics+' expires in 364 days, as I m on a tablet, maybe the functions aren't there, guessing your screen shot was of your plotter

That screen shot was from the Navionics website, but my 10" Android tablet looks exactly the same.

Have you tried setting a route? Once you have an active route, you should see the additional info.

Re: Australian charts for Android opcn

opencpn on android can read the same chart format you have on your laptop.

What is the problem with copying the file?

Re: Australian charts for Android opcn

OCPN on Android will not read S-63 files, as there is no plug-in for Android (yet).

AHS distributes their portfolio in S-63 format. Charts like .Kap etc. will work as Sean stated.
