Value for what purpose? The $99 battery-operated Kaito KA1103 receiver will do lots of useful stuff, but may not be what you're looking for.

The Tecsun PL-600 is a nice receiver if you're only looking for a portable receiver. $95 online

Re: Best Value Shortwave Radio?

Yes, receiver. Thanks for the suggestions.

Have been thinking in the back of my head as being something useful to pick up, however I have just been reading that several stations such as the BBC have gone off the air and that some consider it a dying medium.

Do those who have them still find meaningful and worthwhile programming still out there?

Re: Best Value Shortwave Radio?

I didn't have much luck finding content other than weather from US stations when I was in the Bahamas. That and listening to nets...but I didn't ever find a good news source. Entertainment was all around me so wasn't looking for that!

Re: Best Value Shortwave Radio?

Set up that shortwave.info site to give 'all stations' in 'English'.

For some reason when I insert the link here it always reverts to BBC.

Lots out there for them as looks.
