Wintering in SE Alaska - Sitka?

We're currently cruising the inside passage in British Columbia on our way to Alaska. We don't think we're going to be able to see everything we want to before the season ends, so we're thinking of wintering over somewhere in Alaska with Sitka being the prime suspect.

43ft sailboat with diesel heat and plenty of onboard water to last through a short freeze.

Does anyone have experience wintering over in Alaska as a liveaboard? Any tips or suggestions or referrals would be welcome.

Re: Wintering in SE Alaska - Sitka?

Sitka is beautiful, however, it may be expensive. If youre looking to be in the SE area, you might find Wrangell, Craig, and Thorne Bay interesting. I live in Coffman Cove on the Prince of Wales Island, and although we have a small b oat marina here, a slip for long term, is sometimes a long process.
Hope you enjoy this area, it is truly beautiful
