Royce, there are a hell of a lot of folks looking for such a boat for 50 K$. Sadly, not many such boats exist. That may explain why your search is so unsuccessful.

Finding a boat at any price that is ready to go on a RTW voyage is hard enough. Finding one at your stipulated price point is a daunting task.

Adjusting one or more of your criteria may be required.

Re: Bluewater Circumnavigation Capable Sailboat 50K

Might find one in a remote location, but that boosts the transaction costs a lot.

The definition of "ready to go around the world as is" will vary a lot from one expert sailor to the next.

The consensus is, maybe one out of 500 boats on the market worldwide that **could** be upfitted for blue water, would meet anyone's definition of ready, and that's just as true for 500 grand as for 50.

The real question is, is the captain and crew ready to set out making passage immediately following the closing date?

Look for unicorns.
They often reside in the forepeak of the $50,000 or less, liveaboard, ready to go, circumnavigation capable vessel.

Re: Bluewater Circumnavigation Capable Sailboat 50K

Going to have to find a “quitter”.

Best places to look? Choke points.

Some already mentioned.

South Florida but likely out of price range.

Trinidad, Grenada, Rio Dulce Guatemala, Whangarei New Zealand.

The last one you at least know it made it across the Pacific. The first two likely across the Atlantic. Florida and Rio Dulce? Dreamers.

The bigger question. What are your reserves after (italics) purchase???

Unless I missed it, in what size range are you looking? I have a ready to go Nor'sea 27 in Maine, fully equipped, that can be seen on Sailboatlistings.com. and surely within that price. NS 27's are very capable ocean cruisers, if you accept the size.

Re: Bluewater Circumnavigation Capable Sailboat 50K

HI Royce and welcome to the forum. I will agree with other replies that a truly, turnkey, ready to sail away boat is a rare item. 99.9% of the owners selling a boat are not going to spend a lot of money fixing all the normal, little things that constantly need attention on a boat. Stuff like a corroded wire here, sump pump in the shower gone bad, leak in a hose in the fresh water system, sails only have a year or two of life left. All that will cost the seller far more than he/she will ever get back in the sale so will be left for the new owner.

That being said, $50,000 would buy you a very good boat in very good condition IF you aren't looking for a 40-45' boat. There are plenty of older, excellent boats well capable of a circumnavigation in the mid thirty foot range or if you get lucky in the high thirties. Westsail 32 comes to mind.

Re: Bluewater Circumnavigation Capable Sailboat 50K

Dont give up there out there but you really need to take in a larger area of Search
Dont listen to the nae sayers , people having being going around the world with the Stars, no need for £30000 of Electronics etc
My 42ft Moody Ketch cost me $25000 large keel deep beam rigging sound , old perkins but started every time, sails in moderate age and old electronics , but still had radar , VHF , and old charlplotter , it could sail around the world as soon as I got here , she may have leaked , and not as fast , but it would happen.
But as the lady love likes a nice boat I too k1 year out and refitted her , new wires, heads, stripped back to gelcoat underside re epoxyed, removed treadmaster , Kiwi grip instead, new eltronics were needed , completed strip off of varnish and re varnish whole inside of boat , which is all teak, new windows ,
rubbers, anchor, liferaft,. and sundries , know the wife will get on and thinks shes the Admiral(which she is )
Total cost around $50000 but is not the cost of equipment and other stuff , it is your ability to do it yourself , if not then forget it

We have a Morgan 382 in that range that's ready for extended cruising, talk to Meyers Yacht Sales in Pensacola FL as about Williwaw.

Re: Bluewater Circumnavigation Capable Sailboat 50K

I have a blue water sailboat that was professionally custom built for two doctors from Hamilton Ontario. It is a Ted Brewer soft chine 35’ full keel steel sailboat.
Look up:
HUROMIC 35
A 35' Sloop for steel construction
Brewer / Wallstrom Design #115

My wife and I just spent a week on a 42’ Grand Banks....guess what....we are now selling the sailboat.

She has a brand new Beta 38, new 105 Trojans, Balmar Reg, Solar, Simpson Davits, 7 sails (main, jib, yankee, genoa, storm, asymmetrical spinnaker, stay sail....2 are brand new) Radar, Simrad chartplotter.....etc.... etc.....

I could be talked into selling her for $65,000 US.
My email is deanmacnamara@yahoo.ca

Lots of good deals on the great Lakes, and your USD make the prices even better for you:

and there was a Cabo Rico 38 advertised in Toronto recently, attractively priced, but I can't seem to find the ad anymore. Maybe sold?

Well.. Boat Alexander bought an engineless boat for $1000 and then proceeded to complete a circumnavigation..

To paraphrase the Pardey's: Go small, go now, go for well under $50K.

Also Cookie, a Tiki 21 which has already circumnaved may still be for sale:

Likely way under $50K.
