Trip from Egypt to India

I am planing to leave Egypt around October 2010 heading for India, And staying there till April 2011.
I would like to know if any one is is planing this trip, As i have been told there is safety in numbers.
And as much information as possible on visas, port of entry, good ports for fuel and provisions, and were to stay in India.
My boat is a 16.5 Bruce Roberts sailing ketch which was complete overhauled in 2007, I can sleep 8 comfortably, I wonder if it is possible to get paying guest to help me on this trip as i live on the boat alone.
I sailed from England to Ibiza with family and to Egypt with friends, this is the first time i am looking for crew. Is there a site i can try and market this trip.

India needs a visa and takes a few weeks to arrange. We didn't stop there. We will do it by 747 sometime.
Cochin is on the way to Thailand but is meant to be pretty grotty.

I would not under any circumstances transit the Gulf of Aden without being in a convoy. The piracy activity far exceeds the reports. I know. We went through 3 months ago.

Hurghada in Egypt may be a good place to link up with people heading south.

Please take it all seriously. Sailing vessels are very soft targets. That you might be poor means nothing. Its your familes money, and your governements money they are after and they will hold you till they get it. The more close you are to death the more leverage they have in getting the ransom.

Please take it extreemly seriously.
