My First mate/Admiral is a Thai Chef!

A couple of years ago we formulated the plan to Sail to the South Pacific and beyond in the very near future. My Partner in this folly decided it would be a good idea to create a web page that would chronicle our preparation and subsequent passage.

As it turned out I am a poor supplier of information and her love of food preparation, and her love of the wilds of Canada has resulted in a very broad scope for our page. So it has a wonderful section on BC Canada, a bit of sailing, a bit of struggling trying to fit boat bits, Some great shots of Golden Retrievers in our wilderness home and; a vey nice section on Thai food. It has step by step photos and video and although not professional is nice enough.

Luksana trained at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Bangkok and her ability is frankly wasted on a peasant like me. Since we do live in a remote village she has spent her time developing her site. So if you are interested take a look at

Hope you enjoy. (absolutely non commercial)

Celestial, Your Mrs Thai or Normal?

Tried to follow your blog? So what are you sailing a Rawson or HR?

The best look I got was 3 weeks out in a very remote anchorage and we had had words. After the silent treatment for 24 hours, she said that I was not being respectful and she wanted to go home to her mother, when I suggested she take the dinghy......... Got the look:-)

Re: My First mate/Admiral is a Thai Chef!

Thanks NorthPacific…really enjoyed the photos of my past cruising home in BC…
I often cruised the Inside passage in winter and just realized that some Thai Spice would have been a great belly warmer

My Philippine partner is inspired by the recipe presentations, as we both love visiting Thailand, so thanks again. Let us know if you are ever on the way to the Philippines.

Re: My First mate/Admiral is a Thai Chef!

Our plan is to eventually make Thailand. So we could very well cross paths. I am missing the North Coast already. What a gem, still almost undiscovered, often possible to go a week without seeing another boat. But the dye is set and if we can figure out how to tie all the bits onto our humble little boat (and pay for them) we will be off next July. Broke but determined:-)

Re: My First mate/Admiral is a Thai Chef!

I have found Thai's are superstitious of the water. My Tilac told me that spirits live in the water and will drown you if they have the chance.

Re: My First mate/Admiral is a Thai Chef!

God I thought I was a special one! Maybe we should form a SE Asian Mrs Forum :-)

My Mrs has gone on about that as well but I would have non of it! Said that praying the rosary 2x a day would keep the Draken at bay! She is thinking about that.

She was fine last summer when we headed out for 3 weeks! This summer was a total bust with no sailing. So next year when we hit the big Ocean should be a real acid test. However it was the notion of doing this Sailing thing that grabbed her attention.

Have you noticed that the Thai wife section all have 35 ft boats? Its late and my mind is wandering.
