LIGHT BRIGADE –NZ school of Yacht design/light displacement&multihull yacht evolution

Today I like to share a book (170 pages) which was published by the author himself (as ebook) nine years ago in summer 2006.

LIGHT BRIGADE – the New Zealand school of Yacht design (subtitle: light displacement + multihull yacht evolution in the Southern Antipodes - 19th to 21st century)

As the title promises it gives a detailled view into the history of Kiwi design. - I appreciate it to known the author Gary Baigent (Auckland / New Zealand). He designed, built and sailed interesting trimarans, too. E.g. ...

Trimaran Groucho Marx (11x11 meter)

Tri Flash Harry (6x6 meters)

foiling Tri SID (6.5 (l) x 7 (w) meters)

Gary is a very informatively sailor with experiences of more than four decades and a communicatively boat builder, with a deep knowledge about many types of multihulls (catamarans same as trimarans).

More details about his book and (free) PDF downoad here.

Sadly sections of the book are factually incorrect .

Already discussed on boatdesign forum

I am European.... so cant judge or validate. From far distance such kind of book seems interesting to read to get an idea about the sailing world "down under".

But I agree the author should take care for proofed datas he presents by his writing.
