Gulfstar Sailmaster 39

I am creating this forum to talk about Gulfstar Sailmaster 39' boats. My wife and I own one and are in the process of happily refitting every part of it.

We started with shaving off the bottom (peeled) , pressure washing it for 4 months, and re-layered the bottle with epoxy / faired / painted etc.

We then replaced the standing ringing.
Then worked on the water tanks and fuel tanks.
Also worked on the head and all sea cocks.
Now we are working on electrical and painting the deck.

This is just to show what information we might know a little about. We invite any and all to ask questions about the Gulfstar Sailmaster 39 at anytime.

We hope this forum will serve as the best advise about these boats for those who own them and those who google "is Gulfstar a good boat to buy".

Ask away!

Enjoy!

Re: Gulfstar Sailmaster 39

I think you mean you are starting a thread for discussions of the 39. You might also consider starting a social group for Gulfstar 39s and linking it to the thread. I know there is a Gulfstar 37 group. Good luck!

Re: Gulfstar Sailmaster 39

Are you going to create a blog? Post some pictures? I am very interested in the Gulfstar 39 as it is on the short-list for my "next boat" (which I am now hoping to buy in about a year or two).

We had one going. I'll see if we can get it back up and running. It was all about our work on the boat. More to follow

Re: Gulfstar Sailmaster 39

My wife and I are gearing up to sand a paint the entire deck. Does anyone have any experience in removing all the interior teak to access the stancions on a 39 Gulfstar? Thanks!

If anyone is have issues with the wood step near the companion way entrance, it is not that difficult to remove and fix.
Even though the past owners used 5200 on the wood, we were able to remove all of it and replace with epoxy and fiberglass.
I would say to leave about a half day to remove and start the fist layer of epoxy.
If you have any questions, just ask!

Re: Gulfstar Sailmaster 39

It's been quite a while since I've checked this forum but I would really like to swap stories/information about the GS 39. We bought hull #23 new in '81 and still own her. FYI, there's an active group on Facebook--Gulfstar Owners Association. There are only a few of us GS39 owners on there but it's a good source for general info. If you do join that group, I have uploaded many files that would probably be of interest to you. Otherwise, contact me at camndon@gmail.com and we can swap information. I can send you the files using email or I can mail you a disc. Let me know your story about your boat--
