42' Trimaran - 1976 Trimar Mk II Ocean Racer

Hey all, new here and am trying to find any info on this trimaran design. I can't find a thing. I was told it's a French design, perhaps home built? Solid glass or glass/ply construction? The struts connecting the amas are plain aluminum flatbar and was curious if this was the original intent or a fix over the years.

This specific boat is a real mess with no sailing rig and with major fiberglass work needed, but was wondering if this is one to pursue for bluewater capabilities...even with her age. Sorry I have no pics on hand to show, but it apparently has a 23' beam with a 2 1/2 draft. Any info would be great.

Only a qualified survey by a multihull designer could answer your questions as to whether this is "one to pursue for bluewater capabilities". Any advice you get on this board including mine is just an opinion, at best, and lacking first-hand info about the current condition of the boat even a former owner couldn't advise you.

However, I do think 23' beam is narrow by today's standards for a 42' tri even for coastal work, even if there is a lot of buoyancy in the amas, unless it has a shorter than normal rig.

I have the same boat on the hard in key west. not sure if its the same of which you speak. i have plans for it and a good bit of info.

id still like more info on my boat if anybody out there has any. i believe my trimar mkii 42foot trimaran was built in canada, id love to find the yard.

Anyone know about this model trimaran (Macouillard design, 42ft Trimar MK-II)?

I am looking to replace my forestay chainplate and not sure how I should do it, given that it is built inside the bow. I have plans for the boat, seems to indicate there is only foam/fiberglass in front of the diagonal main wood beam that the forestay attaches to; but I wanted to make sure before bringing out the saw.

My Trimar MKII has been modified and is 46’. Its now for sale.
