Your Favorite Drink and Toast: Sailing, Boating or Ocean Related

Here is my toast to the salty sailors of Cruiser's Forum:

"May this (voyage, boat) be full of good food, good times, good drinks, clean fuel, fair winds, and above all, good memories! Hail Neptune!"

As for a good drink or food, how about a "Bloody Mary-Land?" (See photo below)

It is more than just a drink, it is a meal!

And as is customary when raising the glass: "Here's looking at ya!"

And this is one drink (see below) that really does (look at ya).
___________

Now your turn:

Your favorite Sailing or Boating or Ocean related drink and toast:

Please add your favorite "sailing or boating related" drink (something you enjoy after boating or sailing), whether you call it a "sundowner" or "the daily grog."

If it is not a well known drink, please post a simple recipe or instructions on how to make one. Or a photo or link to it. If you have a favorite place to have it, share that too.

If you have a favorite sailing or boating related toast, please add that too. I would like to learn some good ones for the future.

Thanks Steady for keeping us informed with the most crucial threads for all of us!
many years ago, on a cold winter cruise around the local islands, we were in one of my favorite anchorages, in my boat previously named "Magic Twanger." Since all we had on the boat was hot chocolate and tequila the "Forney's magic twanger" was born. I am sure there is another name for it in Mexico.

Not religious but always liked "inshallah" - nice simple before tea or drink especially if parting beverage.

Don,
Good contribution.

Hot Chocolate + Tequila = hmmmm sounds interesting.

I like both, but have never had them together. On my list now.

Thanks for participating and adding to the mix of drinks!

That is a classic!

But only safe to say in a wardroom or without the presence of wives (you have more than one!!!) or girlfriends (more than one again).

Dark rum with a squeeze of lime juice; haven't found anything to beat it yet. Although I did discover this summer that pouring a beer into the same glass after you've finished the rum gives a good result.

"Here's to us, there's damned few of us left, and most of them are dead."

Steady, are you going for the most threads started in a sabbatical year, or what?

Thanks for adding to the drink and toast mix. . And for the tip about the beer chaser from the same glass.

As to your friendly question, here is my friendly and frank response:
I have boats on my mind every day and much of the day. Why? It is boats I research, draw, paint, as sailing is my passion and boats are part of my professional interest/subject as an artist, as I paint them for both pleasure and profession (as a profesional artist/photographer). So, naturally I have a lot of ideas and questions (and much more still to learn). Sometimes I just have an idea (like this one about drinks and toasts) for something I think will be fun for others to read or that they may enjoy contributing something Favorite too.

If I had known about CF years ago, I would have joined years ago, as I enjoy learning about boats/sailing and truly enjoy the friendly folks here too. I try to learn something new here everyday, and thanks to old salts and new, I do.

Gotta enjoy what we can, as much as we can, while we can. I do my best to enjoy life every day.

Also, I started this thread after I had just finished reading another thread on this forum that had turned contentious (as some do) and the atmosphere in that thread turned colder and less friendly than I like to see in CF. I prefer to foster friendly cooperation and collaboration where possible, as I think it leads to more good feelings and fulfillment and good will for many.

Re: Your Favorite Drink and Toast: Sailing, Boating or Ocean Related

From my Uncle Bill, who sadly passed a couple of months ago. He never had much but he always had some kind of boat, be it a fishing boat, a run about or a pontoon. We would get settled in on his favorite lake in Oklahoma and he would raise his can of Coors and say "I wonder what the poor people are doing right now!" In his eyes, if you had a boat you had all you needed.
