Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

Hello,

We are on "the loop" around the United States, and are looking to cross over to Bahamas in December. My parents and daughter are interetsed in coming to meet us somewhere in the islands in January. Since our boat size does not accommodate extra guests, they are looking to rent a condo. We would like to find one where we can anchor close by and dinghy in to see them.

Any suggestions of good places that are not too populated. We would prefer something a little more secluded as opposed to thr big cities.

Thank you!!

"Condos near anchorages in Bahamas"?

Fortunately (for me lol) not too many, except for places that are crowded like Grand Bahama and New Providence.
Fortunately for you there are houses, apartments, and hotels available in less crowded places such as the Exumas and the Abacos.
I would start be researching Georgetown. It's not exactly "out island" anymore, but it's nowhere near as crowded as Nassau, Freeport, etc.
Probably be a good solution to your needs.

Not sure if this meets your definition of condo? http://www.stanielcay.com/

One of our favorite anchorages is Big Major Spot. You can dinghy from the anchorage to the Yacht Club. Plus, visit Pig Beach, and hang out at Pirate Beach. Snorkel Thunderball Grotto That would be my recommendation. Everybody will be happy!

I think Staniel's airport has re-opened, but your guests can probably get a ride to Staniel from Nassau. Do some homework.

Another possibility would be Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands. Great Harbour Cay - Home

A decent marina (we check in there), with condos right there. You can anchor outside the harbor, but would be a bit of a dinghy ride. Not sure if there is dinghy dockage available if you choose that option.

Check out Cape Santa Maria on the north side of Long Island. It's a beautiful little resort that's a bit more secluded than what you'll find in the Exumas. Only about 30 miles east from Georgetown.

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

Treasure Cay in the Abacos has a protected anchorage, a marina, lots of condos, and is close to the airport.

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

Georgetown has become fairly populated. I think there are several places in the Abacos meeting your description. There are typically far fewer boats anchored in Marsh Harbour than Georgetown. Treasure Cay, Hope Town and Green Turtle Cay also come to mind. Hope Town and GT are accessible from Abaco by ferry. Treasure Cay is on Abaco. (It isn't really a cay, it's a peninsula) I'm sure Great Guana has some accommodations as well.

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

In the Abacos consider Hopetown on Elbow Cay and White Sound on Green Turtle Cay. On GTC both Bluff House and Green Turtle have options that fit the bill. In my opinion, much better than Treasure Cay

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

Lots of condos around the mooring field in Treasure Cay but much nicer with more to do on Green Turtle Cay. Rent a house or stay in one of the resorts. Some run specials including air fare. Check out web sites for The Green Turtle Club. Bluff House or Island Property Management. Some rentals include dockage for your boat. Many would have it anchored or on a mooring within sight. Feel free to PM me with any questions. We are on the Cay
