Sea talk / NEMA0183 icom m802 gps

I installed a Raymarine ES97 and backbone network with 2 i70 instruments. My issue is I am trying to connect an Icom Sideband Radio M802 GPS port into the backbone. I am trying to pull the GPS from the ES97 and send the data to the GPS port for the M802 to read

I am open to any ideas that will work. So far I have been unable any real threads that address this in either the Raymarine sight or Google. Are there any converta cables offered back to Nema 0183 to SeaTalk
The ray marine side connection is easy but I can't find the icom plug

You're going to have to pull the 0183 from the back of the e7. It's in the bundle coming out of your power plug. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but you said you were open to any suggestions.

The 802 is a bit regarding what type of position "sentence" it will accept.

I get the desire to make one big unified system. I would recommend against it. I installed a separate GPS for the SSB, VHF, and modem. That way I always have a backup, and it simplifies the wiring as these commo devices want NMEA0183. I used this GPS, which could be mounted outside but I just put it below the deck, beside the radios: USGlobalsat Corporate Avoid the SirfStar IV model and get the III - it is better for our purposes. At less than $60 it is a cheap solution.

Just curiosity. Why is the SirfStar III better than the IV.

The III was designed primarily for GPS devices and the IV was designed for "embedded" systems (read phones and tablets). The IV has lower power consumption but also lower performance. I am not remembering exactly the parameters that were affected - you can check the datasheets - but the folks with the GPSd project were unimpressed, and they do know what they are about.

For the icom802 the longer time between fixes should matter less though right as it's not being used to navigate in 'real time' ?

It also uses less power??

It's 40 bucks less than the sirf-3 model

IIRC sensitivity is also an issue. If you mount it above deck that shouldn't matter. I mount mine below decks (wooden house & deck) and appreciate how well they work. (I have a second one which provides GPS data to my chartplotter, which repeats to the N2K system.)
