Only 47 years! Lagoon.

I have been sailing all my life. I am 62 now.

Last March we took an Island Packet out in the pudding for a couple of days.

Yesterday I did two things:

1- I took my niece out for a nice brunch. (And sent in my 15.01.)

2- I bought a Lagoon 410.

(I am going up to the title of this post and adding Lagoon to it at random.)

I am leaving Annapolis after two hours on her to see the world.

I thank ALL of my sailor friends in advance for answering 100 dumb questions in advance!

My survey guy says that all of the systems I have no clue about are A-OK.

I just reread what I have written......one of us has been hitting the bottle again.

Har!

Rick

PS- I know zero about social comms in the Bahamas. I know that somewhere on this site it's already been spelled out.

With no editorial would one of you please tell me what BTC program I should purchase?

----I have A/C!!!!-----

That's all well and good, but we really can't help until you tell us what kind of anchor you have?

Thanks Bean.

The anchor is a sweet little #55 Rocna with 250 feet of chain rode with another 150 of line.

Have a wonderful trip. You''ve a whopping big anchor and much more rode than you'll need in the Bahamas. The bottom is either quite shallow or too deep to anchor with very little in between.

Re: Only 47 years! Lagoon.

Go for it Rick. Cast off to the best decision you've ever made. I'm turning 63 this month and I'm about a year behind you. I love that Rocna; our one has given me many good night's sleep while the wind howls around the boat.
We chartered a Lagoon in the BVI's in January and my wife has given me a catamaran ultimatum so it seems this old mono-hull sailor will also go twin-hull for the big trip.

Oh my! Is that the NZ made Rocna, or the Canadian made one, or (sorry) the Chinese made one? Is it made of the Bisplate steel or the cheap knockoff? The fudge in the pantry is soft. Only the Chinese version will work in the Bahamas, hope that's what you have.

Well done. I'm 75 and wondering if I can do this for too many years yet.
To hell with it I'm off to the boat in Greece next week.

Re: Only 47 years! Lagoon.

When I got into auto racing one of the most popular instructors was a retired airline pilot who got into auto racing at 64.

Still I wish I was 24. My damned anchor keeps gaining weight and the winches aren't as efficient as in days past.
