Dufour 512

I have purchased a new Dufour 512 (2017), I am interested to hear general views from other Dufour 512 owners.

Re: Dufour 512

You bought a new boat!? Why didn't you buy a Amel! The council are not going to be happy with this! When will the craziness end!

Seriously though, congrats, beautiful boat, how you finding it? Are you living on it? Where do you intend to Sail it?

And we are interested to know what you have to say regarding your new boat and how it compare with previous boats you have sailed or owned.

I find the Dufour 512 one of the most beautiful production 50ft around, congratulations
I find the integrated barbecue amazing and a great detail design:

Re: Dufour 512

Welcome! And congrats on your new yacht. So you picked the D512. Beautiful boat. Can you tell us what other boats you considered and why you eventually chose the D512 over the others? Thanks!

Re: Dufour 512

Well done for your boat but be careful... in November 2016, a new Dufour 512 on charter in Lanzarote returned with water ingress at the deck/hull join and visible twisting. A marine engineer I know inspected the boat and found the main bulkhead had separated from the hull.. hence the twisting and water ingress. He declared the boat "not seaworthy" and the fight has begun.

I wish for you not to have this problem but be aware.. perhaps the newest deliveries will be better built.

So, it's been 10 months... how is the 512?

Any advice? I'm thinking to buy the same boat, from 2016.

Best regards,

Randall
