ANZ Sail Fiji

ANZ SAil Fiji is a race and a cruise in company from NZ to FIJI. Congratulations to TeamVodafoneSailing for crossing the finish line at 22:31:03 on Monday 6th June just 2 days 11 hours 31 minutes and 3 seconds after the start. TVS has smashed the 2014 record to set the fastest time ever to Fiji!

That's impressive.

About 1100 nautical miles at a guess. That's 440 nm/day or 18+knot average.

Re: ANZ Sail Fiji

They did very well considering this happened in the first 24 hours.

Just after sundown on Day 1 of ANZ Sail Fiji, Team Vodafone Sailing were forced to slow down to assess possible damage to the port arma.
Boat Captain Stuart Mackinven reported,
"We hit a semurgeded object with port foil, just after sun down. We gybed to assess the damage and went crawled into arma to check for case leaks."
After checking the arma all was ok however the port foil on the Orma 60 has sustained damage to the trailing edge.
Unsure if they hit a sunfish, iceberg or mermaid, the team made a decision that all ok was to continue racing as into the evening were hitting around 26 knots of boat speed.
