I have noticed this L440 in a marina nearby. So I yakked over just to check it out. They say that good bridgedeck clearance is determined if you can make it under with your dink. I'm thinking I can just make it under in my yak and this will be a good test. The next few moments are a blur. My yak is not going straight and for some reason I'm heading for the center nacelle V and it's real tight there. It must be the
current, it can't be me. I'm getting squished and then kerplunk, my old ass is swimming in
Puget Sound. Yup that there is 50 degree
water. Refreshing too! I made it to the
dock ladder and got everything back in order except my pride. I think that big ole cat was smirking at me.
I've been yakking over 100 times in the last 3 years and this was the first
capsize for me. There must be something wrong with celestial
events that day,
solar storm, earth's rotational wobble, too much kale for breakfast, something but not operator error.
I'm gonna blame that one on the
current. I'm perfect, my mother tells me so.
