1983 Islander Freeport 41 Center Cockpit Ketch, $49,500

Unique Opportunity to own a bluewater sailboat. Health issues force sale of 1983 Islander Freeport 41, Center Cockpit Ketch on Lake Texoma, Denison, Texas at a great price. Have spent the last five years upgrading and now you can make it yours!

Several features contribute to the unmistakable profile of the Freeport 41: the large windows, clipper bow, bowsprit, and ketch rig.
Islander Yachts built the Freeport 41, a redesign by Robert H. Perry of the Charlie Davies-designed Islander 40, from about 1969 to 1984. The boat's best feature is the aft stateroom, which offers a place to relax in comfort separated from guests or kids by a walkway and two doors.

"Eloquence" has been on this freshwater lake since commissioning. Powered by fully-battened main and mizzen; and roller furling headsail; and the Pathfinder Marine 6-cylinder Diesel, Model 85MF. This 85 hp engine is a marinizied VW 6-cylinder industrial diesel engine built on a Kubota block with less than 1800 hours. Parts are readily available from both VW and Kubota dealers. Ship power provided by Universal diesel generator with less than 4300 hours. Systems include two air conditioning units, one for main salon and V-berth and one for the large owner's aft cabin; hot and cold pressure water; refrigeration with freezer and icebox; three burner electric cooktop; microwave/convection oven; automatic battery charger and four deep-cycle Interstate SRM-27 batteries; new Rule 1500 bilge pump and float control; forward and aft heads, both with showers and separate vanity sinks.
Since 2013 major engine maintenance includes replacement of water pump impeller, timing belt, fuel pump belt, alternator belt, idler pulley, coolant pump assembly, and starter. Also installed were: new water heater, new refrigeration system, Spartite mast wedge replacement system; all new running rigging; new steaming/deck light and new anchor light. Hatches, handrails and winches were removed, deck penetrations filled with West System epoxy, redrilled and equipment rebedded and installed with new s/s hardware. The four, large fixed portlights in the aft cabin were replaced with new and properly bedded; all deteriored interior teak was removed and replaced with new. Headliner in the main salon, aft cabin and both heads was removed, hull insulated and new Sailrite nauga soft vinyl headliner installed. New marine Sunbrella covers for main and mizzen sails, handrails, and steering pedestal and wheel also installed.

Ground tackle includes two CQR anchors, bow rollers and electric winch with foot control. Edson heavy-duty davits installed aft and hold an eight-foot Zodiak RIB and Mercury 2.5 hp, four-cycle outboard, both less than three years old.

If you want to carry all your stuff with you when you go cruising, you'll love the Freeport 41. If you run aground someday, you'll also like the full keel, with its 7,000 pounds of lead encased in up to 3 inches of solid fiberglass. The hull is solid glass, and the decks are cored with plywood. The 51-foot mainmast passes under most bridges you'll encounter, and the 5-foot draft allows access to many desirable harbors and anchorages.
