Lagoon 380 replacement to come?

Reporting from an interview of CNB/Lagoon CEO: lagoon after filling the large cats market are now focusing on small units (<40ft) in an attempt to replace the 380, which is much more complicated than making a good big cat and thus launched a design contest w/ Beneteau foundation.
Any guess, ideas?

The 380 outsells the 39. They have a tough time letting it go, the dealers scream for it as the entry level cat. It won the ARC last year, so it sails great.

However, as an owner of one, I have many ideas on how to modernize / improve it.

They indeed say it would be really hard replacing it. What would you personally do?

Come on Guys, Keep the conversation going. Lagoon seem pretty good at developing the concept. I would like to hear your ideas on what you would like to see.

We love our 380 and can see the difficulty in replacing it. I would say leave it basically the same, but sharpen up the edges in line withe the 39 & 42.

Moving the traveller up onto the bimini would be a big help, leaving a walkway across the back without having to climb over the seats.

Both of these design elements have proven very popular in newer catamaran designs.

Climbing over the stern seats gets old.

The new Lagoon 42 has one level from the stern sugar scoops all the way through the galley and saloon which is a great design element.

Biggest issues for me:

1. Move traveller up to hardtop. Hardtop is standard pretty much on all new orders. Would love to know if current design from factory can handle traveller up there.

2. Get rid of 'hole' on cockpit in front of entry to cabin. You step into this 1.5'x1.5' well, then need to step UP about 6" into cabin. Single level would be the way to go.

3. Self tacking jib, like on the 42. Of course, this would mean making the mainsail bigger. Need to keep mast height ICW compliant.

As a new owner of a 380 I feel entitled to give my idea
Square interior and exterior design but keep the rounded edges
Bimini Flush with salon roof
Traveller on top of Bimini
No(!) Walk through cockpit walkway, I like the enclosed feel
Keep it slim, not a fat lady like the 39
Keep it affordable, Fountain Pajot has already left the market of small & affordable

Re: Lagoon 380 replacement to come?

I'd like to see the seating on deck with a higher back or at least smooth out the area against the cabin (I can provide a pic if needed). As someone with 4 pinched nerves in the shoulder and neck, the low back is a drawback. That would also give more height to the hulls below (I guess).

I can't for the life of me figure out why the pillows are at what should be the foot of the bed in the v-berth in the video online and on the floor plan. That's just icky. I don't want my husband's feet near my pillows. Other women must feel the same. Men probably don't care, but that's because our feet are perfect in every way lol. If I owned that boat, obviously I would not be using that bed, but I'd probably have friends or family that would at some point.

Other thoughts: cabinet to the ceiling in the galley, not a partial. That boat is on my short list and even if I purchased it new, I'd build a full height cabinet to put in its place.

On a 38 footer, doors waste valuable space. I'd like a pocket doors for the heads.

Speaking of valuable space, in the two large cabins beside the bed (window side), there could be a shallow dresser type piece for extra storage. I can't tell what's there now... storage or not? I'm not sure.

Good luck with the contest and good luck in school (assuming you're in school b/c you wouldn't be entering the contest if you weren't)
