pirate Rescue helicopter lost

Sad news today.. a S&R helicopter has been lost while assisting with the recovery of a fisherman with health complications off a fishing vessel 150nm off the W coast of Ireland.
Wreckage was found and one of the four crew was recovered.. sadly though she has since died from her injuries.
She was the flight captain and had served as a pilot for 20yrs with the Irish Coastguard S&R service and it seems was somewhat of a heroine/personality in Ireland..
Just goes to show how much folks risk and give when they serve us who choose to work and play on the ocean.
RIP Dara.. and my condolences to all her family and friends.. also to those off the crew who are still missing.

Re: Rescue helicopter lost

Wow! That sucks! I flew EMS helicopters for 5 years, I have lost friends and crew. That is an emotional trauma that I wish on no one.

God Speed...

Re: Rescue helicopter lost

Its always Tragic but inevitable unfortunately.
I've worked with Canadian SAR for 30 years and and have experienced 3 lost helicopters over the years and loss of life each time. Last week we lost a SAR technician during a para jump exercise.
