For paid or professional relocates, it's not unreasonable to expect compensation, transportation, food, or sail experience.

For recreation or personal help, transportation, food, and fun in the sun aren't unreasonable expectations either, but those incentives are really just independent features of each owner.

Mocking the expectation is probably unnecessary and pointless. I'm open to all offers but that doesn't mean I wouldn't ask what's included in either case.

As far as bearing expenses, most pay to play not to work.

Unless the ferry closed then it is probably cheaper to fly into St Thomas, safari to downtown and then take the ferry across to St Croix only took about two and half hours last time I was there and it saved me a ton over airfare into St Croix.

Honestly, paying to cruise(splitting expenses) other than for my own food and providing my own safety gear is probably going to be a non-starter. No one I know would pay to crew your vessel for you. But best of luck with that.

I ran 40+ yachts to St. Thomas for many years. I paid return air and all expenses. In return, I expected dedicated hard working sailors. Never had a problem getting good crew. Their "pay" was a week of R&R in the BVI on the boat after we arrived but before I turned the boat over to the Charter Marina. But I was under a lucrative contract with Hirsch and could afford to dip into the profits.

Frankly, the OP's mean spirit towards the potential crews openly in the forum concerns me the most, just look at his posts in the past. It has all the elements of a voyage from Hell.

He is an inexperienced boat owner and needs experienced crews to help him to sail. And yet, he expects the crew to pay his share of the boat expenses like food, fuel, and other expense.

Are you still looking for crew? I can pay my own airfare and share expenses as you said but I have no experience sailing. If someone good at doing what they are told will work please contact me.

I am a retired Elementary School Principal with some sailing experience and basic qualifications. I do not have mechanical or navigational experience but I am healthy and sensible. If you are looking for crew during January 2019, let me know.
