T-Boned Moorings 50 sinks in the BVI

A Moorings 50 was T-boned by a Voyage catamaran near Baughers Bay today, 6/30/2019, around 1:00 pm. Although she appears to have sunk nearly completely I understand she was towed in. Haven't heard any report of injuries and certainly hope everyone is OK. Quite a mess!

Good Lord, one sailboat hits another in open water, how does that happen?
Somebody runs over me, they better hope I drown

Baughers Bay is close to the Moorings Marina....everybody motoring in or out.

I don't see how a collision in that location could be so severe.

Looks to me like his sails were up. Main is still partially up, and spilling out of the bag a bit. Headsail isn't fully furled either. Which makes it even more likely that someone would see him. I can't imagine how both skippers managed to not take evasive action.

"Sunk nearly completely" Isn't sinking like pregnancy? You are or you aren't.

I'm happy to see that boat still floating, of course very damaged, but definitely not 'sunk'.

Even though it hasn’t sunk there is not a lot left to survive on for more than a few hours on.
Probably got a dishwasher in each hull.

Is this one from the charter fleet?

Anyone want to put a price on a new Moorings 50? I don't really look at these as they are just beyond my price range

50 footers from the big 3 (Leopard AKA Moorings, FP, and Lagoon) will run you just north of a Million. 1.2 by the time you outfit it. Moorings version may be a little less because they standardize their boats.

In the last photo I wonder if that was the offending Voyage in the background, if so it looks like she was under sail too.

Does Leopard seal (water tight) the engine compartment from the rest of the hull?
