SE Asia to Indonesia and Australia 2019
Hi there!
We are Margaux and Julien - and you guess right, with these crazy spellings we are french! (but let me reassure you, we can speak a descent english despite our strong french accent). We are a couple of adventurers, physically fit and mentally stable (oh, wait…) but more than that, we are very persistant in our goals and making our dreams come true. The best example? Well, we left France 2 years ago, and we reached South East Asia only by foot and hitchhiking! But we are not freeloaders. Our spirit is sharing and experiencing the more than we can.
What about us? Since we left university after 5 years of scientific studies and part-time student jobs, we had the opportunity to work 4 years in pharmaceutical research and since 2 years that we are traveling, we have been volunteers for a countless places, such as humanitarian organisations for migrants, hostels in Bulgaria, Iran and Kyrgystan (managers/receptionnists/bar tender/cook), eco-farms in Italy and Slovenia; also worked as help-hand for general maintenance in old houses and baby-sitters for a lot of kids from different countries. We master some desserts like crepes (pancakes) and much more. We are very curious, responsible, team-working orientated and interested in many different things, as you can see. The most important: learn the more from different and experienced people! Ok, we do not have any sailing experience yet, but it’s just a matter of time and perseverance ! And yes, don't worry: we can share the expenses on board, we are open to discuss about that.
Our goal is to cross the sea to reach Indonesia and Australia (or around, we are flexible) with sailing boats, and find a captain/crew to get along with and make a good team. The ideal would be to do it a in slow travel, exploring the coasts and islands on the way, but that’s up to everyone’s agreement of course. We are not looking for a fancy yacht and captains willing to make money with their crew, but eco-reponsible people who would appreciate some help on board to make their journey more pleasant. We can help for pretty much everything on board like:
- Managing the goods and cooking,
- Watching at night,
- Cleaning (cockpit sole, sinks, floors, wash dishes as soon as used…),
- Conserving power and water for everyones' conveniency,
- Having a shower outside in case of heavy rain
- And everything else needed on board plus learn from your sailing experience
We have also some questions as:
- Where? we heard that Thailand and Malaysia would be the best, but do you know where precisely?
- When? is march really the deadline for departures from Thailand and Malaysia?
- How? If you have some precise tricks to get in touch with captains in the harbors of this area, it would be awesome
thank you!
If you agree, we would like to be in touch and we will also have many questions about you and your boat
