Fantasy Sailboat

We bought a lotto ticket last weekend for a $34 million dollar prize -- didn't win: sigh. We had spent the week fantasizing on which brand new sailboat we would buy: Jeanneau, Hunter, Bavaria etc. until I realized that those should be my $1 million fantasy boats. I had no idea what the Mercedes or even Ferrari of cruising sailboats was.

A bit of research found me tons of racing boats but little built for the luxurious opulence that $34 m should bring. The closest I got was a Nauticat or maybe a Tartan

So, given I dream of a brand new monohull sailboat (I will save the cat for when I'm older), don't need to win races, and am looking for extreme luxury for 2-3 people in the 35-45 foot range, just who are the Manufacturers I should be drooling over?

You dream too small. Look up Perini Navi. One almost never sees boats like those in the United States, but there are hundreds if not thousands of boats like them here in the Med. Americans need to start dreaming bigger and setting higher goals.

But if you hit it big or can just afford it and have that sort of money to burn...powerboats, or rather motor yachts are the way to go where you get much more for the same money.

No such thing as extreme luxury in the 35-45ft sailboat range. There would no market for that.

I get what you re saying though. I guess I limited the size because Something like the Amel's seemed too big to handle with just one other person who, to be honest, isn't that interested in sailing...

As for the Perini Navi...OMFG I really need to start opening up my expectations!

Ok. Sticking to the 34 million dollar budget and leaving some cash left for crew and years of cruising, I'd choose the same sailboat as billionaire and Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan chose... an Oyster 885.

He also has a new 155ft Sunseeker to go with it.

When I win the lottery though, and I will, I will be happy with this:
A Pacific Seacraft 31ft, with a Fleming 58ft: for the cook, and my massage
therapist, along with ice and ice cream for my fellow sailors, following along.
