We spent 2 years in
Turkey before leaving to
Greece end of last year. You get Blue Card upon entering Turkey and every time you
pump out at a shore facility or to a pump-out
boat this is recorded in the card memory and you get a receipt (keep them as card may fail). Our experience was that in busy places like Marmaris and in high season
pump out was easy. You can either use one of pump out stations (usually near diesel&gas stations) or call a pump-out
boat and ask it to be at wherever you are in the area at a certain time (so you don't even leave the anchorage). Now, based on our experience in 2014-2015, outside major hubs like Marmaris or Gocek, pump-out facilities simply do not exist, or are not operational (broken down or not operated). But if you ask, they can swipe your card and put some pump-out numbers in it, including giving you receipt, like if you just pumped out. So when CG checks your BlueCard, it is totally ligit showing you are frequently pumping out. Some port police did ask us to show them our blue card so make sure you maintain it. Otherwise for us small-boat guys it is business as usual... go out and drop in the sea far enough from the shore when nobody's watching. Otherwise you will either need 500L black water
tanks onboard or will
route your cruising around operational pump-out facilities and there were not many by end of 2015 when we left.
