Greetings from South Africa

Good day everybody. After dreaming about sailing for a long time, my family and I decided to take the plunge and buy yacht Phoenix, a 26ft Eventide (Maurice Griffiths design) built back in 1977. We intend to sail up and down the East Coast and then eventually go for holidays in Mozambique and perhaps hop over to Madagascar. I joined this forum because I am eager to learn from others, and want to become a better yachtsman.

Re: Greetings from South Africa

Thanks.
Our first long journey with Phoenix will be moving her from Saldanah on the West Coast to Cape St. Francis on the East Coast.
At the moment, we are 9 hours drive from Phoenix, but if all goes according to plan, we will be fetching her end of September 2015. Our house is about 30 minutes drive from the St. Francis Marina.

Welcome to CF. We are heading in your direction soon. Presently in Madagascar and will make the Mozzie channel crossing in late October to S Africa and then around the coast to C Town.

I too am interested to read of recent cruising in Mozambique for those that tune in....

Re: Greetings from South Africa

Welcome Aboard CF!

I would love to cruise over to Madagascar.

Since you will likely have a lot of questions related to your new boat and life...

Here are two of my favorite tips for newcomers to the forum:

WIKI
Take a look at the Cruising WIKI that is found via the tab up on the top menu bar of the forum. It has a LOT of information in it you might find fun, interesting, or helpful.
____________

Looking for Quick Answers?

This is the best and fastest method I have found to the answers I seek here.
Since you are relatively new to the forum, here is my favorite friendly forum search tip: Look at the green menu bar on the forum pages for the drop down "Search" menu. Click on that to drop down a list of search functions. From that drop down menu select the GOOGLE CUSTOM search feature (the second box down) and then enter several different descriptive terms for your topic of interest. That will do a Custom google search of ONLY this site and it is likely to find answers to your questions or results for you. Note: this is different from using the regular forum search box or field. Also note, this is NOT found if you use the CF app. It IS found if you use a web browser such as Safari, etc.
