1988 Catalina Tall Rig - Looking for a Canadian buyer

Boat is located in Indiantown, Florida.
Price $35,000 Canadian
Lots of photos and videos can be seen on "S/V Mariposa" Facebook Page.

We are happy and a little sad to put S/V Mariposa up for sale…

The story… We are Phil and Michelle, prior owners of a hopping busy soup and sandwich cafe in BC, Canada that put everything up for sale to go sailing in the Bahamas. We traveled across Canada to buy a boat in Saint John, New Brunswick. We purchased a 1988 Catalina 34 Tall Rig named Mariposa from prior Canadian owners who had just come back from doing the exact same trip that we were planning on doing. On October 16, 2017 we set sail south, travelling along the ICW on foul days and the open Atlantic on the nicer days all the way south to West Palm Beach, Florida. We made it to the Bahamas December 24th, 2017.

As April approached and after an awesome cruising season, we decided we had to do one more season in the Bahamas. We changed our plans of sailing back to Canada and put Mariposa up on the hard in Indiantown, Florida. We began a long road trip home excited to see family and friends.

As luck would have it, the only company that Michelle and I would love to have an opportunity to work for posted two management positions on their Facebook page. When we got back to BC, we applied for the positions, went through the interview process and both received job offers!

For this bitter/sweet reason, we are selling Mariposa. Mariposa is located in Indiantown, Florida. With a small amount of preparation, provisioning and delivering her back down the St. Lucy River to West Palm Beach and re-stepping the mast, she will be ready to return to the Bahamas again!

Mariposa is a Canadian registered boat and therefore we are hoping to find a Canadian buyer as the sale of the boat would be considerably easier and have a lot less hoops to jump through. We would need to remove our personal items from the boat but all else goes.

Please forgive the lack of “Boat purchasing photos” as we didn’t intend for this to happen this way. We will post all photos we feel might give a true representation of Mariposa. As well, feel free to check out “S/V Mariposa” on Facebook to view the boat (pictures and videos) and the awesome 2017 cruising season we had.

Who’s ready to sail Mariposa to the Bahamas for 2018?

* Repack Stuffing Box while on the hard

*** PRIOR TO LAUNCH - REPLACE RAW WATER INTAKE HOSE BEHIND THE RAW WATER SCREEN AND SPEEDO UP FWD (both were removed in case of large amounts of water getting inside the boat while on the hard) ***

*** AFTER LAUNCH - IMMEDIATELY INSPECT FORWARD SPEEDO AND RAW WATER SUPPLY LINE FOR LEAKS. IMMEDIATELY INSPECT THE STUFFING BOX FOR RATE OF DRIPS (should be 1 drip every 30 seconds) ***

Re: 1988 Catalina Tall Rig - Looking for a Canadian buyer

The price should read $30,000 Canadian dollars.

We were excited for our cruising sabbatical and were given a good deal buy the previous owner. Now as we return to "normal life" we'd like to sell Mariposa at a great price but not give her away. She's a good boat for the price. Great for the two of us and our 55 lb. shepherd.

I don't know why I can't EDIT my posts...

Edit #2.

AT THE TOP OF THIS POST IT SHOULD READ...

*** Not for sale to US buyers while in the US waters ***
*** This is a Canadian registered boat ***

Thanks all. I'm just trying to do everything properly.

Re: 1988 Catalina Tall Rig - Looking for a Canadian buyer

Thanks for any inquiries we have had. Plans have now changed and we will NOT be selling Mariposa. We will return to cruise for one more year in the Bahamas then sail the boat back north to Canada to sell her there.

Again, thanks for your interest but this boat is no longer for sale.

I have looked at how I might be able to delete this but can't seem to find a way to do it.

Mark it sold. To you! It will get archived.

Re: 1988 Catalina Tall Rig - Looking for a Canadian buyer

Thanks for the advice.

For the record, I will mark this boat as sold, but it has not. It will remain in our possession. (I have purposely made mention of this to avoid any potential trouble with customs).

Thanks for the advice.
