Re: Southern Cross 35' Cutter in Tahiti

price REDUCED to sell!!

Due to the rapidly changing exchange rates ( I.e. $ skyrocketing) I can happily reduce the price to

51000 USD

A southern Cross in this very good condition has never been offered at this low price I believe.

Great value for a very good boat, in very good shape and with a high level of equipment onboard. Fly in and sail out!

My savings are in SEK( swedish krona) so it's great news for potential buyers

" Being a double ended boat there is perfect balance when heeled. In other words, unlike a transom stern boat on which the heeled centerline shifts to leeward at the stern, with a double ended boat the centerline stays on center when heeled. On a transom stern boat, when rolling the shift of the CL astern (but not at the bow) induces yaw, which results in difficult steering control. By contrast, the inherent balance provided by a double ended hull shape does not induce any added yaw, therefore providing greater steering stability, and much less weather helm under sail. "

I don't know about the timing, that's up to anyone depending on their plans, the location has to be one of the best in the world though?! Though that too, can depend on plans of course

I've had some interest now, and mailed high resolution photos to a couple of potential new owners. No deal closed though, and now is a good time to act if you are interested in this boat, with hurricane season finsished over here in a couple months!

Well...you'll notice a lot of members of CF have looking for my next one and so on. If a person wants a boat, they simply go out and find one.
There is nothing wrong with your boat. It's well priced, a great name and in a place currently most people would give their eye-teeth to be. The problem is most people are dreamers, not doers. I wish you the best of luck. When I decided to get back into sailing, I had my HR 35 within 3 months. Maybe try sailboat listings .com

I was thinking along those lines as well. OP's 1st ad was on Nov. 8, 2015, almost 3 months ago. Probably could've sailed to at least Hawaii if not US West Coast by now and definitely would have gotten a bite and most likely at higher than currently listed price of $51K.

PS BTW, beautiful boat and the price is very fair.

Re: Southern Cross 35' Cutter in Tahiti

Thanks for your comments, guys. Of course we are aware of all that, but for several other reasons, we prefer to stay here. Also, not all that a great idea to sail to Hawaii or the US West coast fro here in full hurricane season, a strong El Niño year....

All I need is one serious buyer showing up, or else we keep the boat. Fairly simple.

You are correct that CF is not the best site to actually sell a boat, the leads has so far came from elsewhere, but free exposure can't hurt I believe!

Cheers,

Also, you have it in FRENCH POLY. Let's talk about FRENCIE FEES. Let's talk about HIGH COSTS OF IMPORTS FOR PARTS etc.

Lousy place to sell a boat IMUnHumbleO!

It's not just ONE buyer you need. it's MANY customers so you have a larger PROBABILITY one BUYER will bite.

For example: Its ONLY one LOTTO ticket I need to leave my job and buy an Ovni or Nordhavn. What do you think the odds are of that happening?

Reality sucks, but there you have it.

SaltyMonkey has spoken.

Here.

Salty, I think you are a bit misinformed, or at best outdated info base.

Yacht in transit for 36 months, no fees for entry. During those 36 months you buy diesel fuel tax free, and can import whatever replacement parts for your boat free of tax. when those 36 months are up, you have two alternatives. Either you import it, which comes with a tax of 7% of the estimated value ( the customs have their own surveyors as I understand it) or you simply leave the territory and then re-enter to restart the 36 months again. This could be a trip to the Line Islands(Kiribati nowadays) and/or Hawaii. The closest alternative however, is Pitcairn, a mere 300 miles from the Gambiers in SEFrPoll

This change in policy, and new law came about on April 2014, and needless to add that the number of boats in dry storage, at marinas and at anchor has increased significantly.

Hopefully also the income from this particular kind of tourism, to this tropical Island Paradise. Heck, even James Cook tended to overstay it here!
