Nevermind, This is too cryptic for us to fully understand. You appear to be asking a question. Perhaps a little more detail and context would help.
Do you want to change the Watchdog Timeout Parameter? What is this, it does not exist.

Watchdog Configuration > Edit Alarm has checkbox
"Repeat Alarm after seconds [60]
Below that is checkbox
"Automatically Reset"

If you wish to get an answer, you will need to be more precise and frame the question properly.

Have a look at the source code in files chart1.cpp, navutil.cpp and others.
Please come back when you have a little knowledge of OpenCPN.

No, it is for a friend with PC W7 and opencpn 4.2

The default is 6 seconds. With the line mentioned above you can specify any other value.

Nevermind,

usually it is not needed to increase this timeout because the default of 6 seconds is more than sufficient when normally a GPS device sends each one second (1 Hz) the needed data. Regarding your log file however there might be another reason why there is so much interrupted data received. Please check the used GPS receiver, its driver, its cables and anything else for a good data connection.

Plaisance practice includes many sailors interested by OpenCPN. We have written many article and tutorials on OpenCPN
Now arises the problem that we do not know how to solve. I did not find the parameter "GPSDogTimeout = xx" Would you say that we must create in the ini file ???
Otherwise, I agree with you regarding the log file, there might be another reason why there are so many interrupted data received. We check the GPS receiver used for drivers, cables and anything else for a good data connection.
The system on which we work is complex: Garmin 19xx> VHF / AIS Furuno> USB Interface Cable Furuno> OpenCPN 4.2.0
We will work in order, checking the results. And of course we will keep you posted

You can make a line in opencpn.ini below the section [Settings] with:
GPSDogTimeout=10 (for example)
But I don't believe it will help much.
As I wrote already normally the GPS device sends each one second a dataset.
OpenCPN checks for a 6 seconds period before it writes a line in its log file.
So there must be a severe problem regarding your log file with all that lines.
If you have some more informations about
- type of the GPS device
- operating system used
- driver informations about this GPS device
- type of connection (USB, Bluetooth etc.)
I might search a little bit more to find a solution then.

OK, I get to insert the command line "GPSDogTimeout = 10" in the .ini file. I transmits rensignement on the thread of Plaisance Practice.
copy attached: NMEA sentences retrieved by OpenCPN. It is seen that only "$ GPRMC" appears every 10 seconds, as the sequence of "Timeout" displayed in the log file. Other:
O.S: W 7 or more (I do not know)
GPS: Garmin 19x HVS (NMEA 0183), Reference Number: 010-01010-00

I see a lot of AIS messages and once and a while a GPS message.
I think a lot of (non navigational) traffic over one port

It seems something is wrong with the USB connection via Furuno.
To receive only RMC is not sufficient. All other GPS sequences would have been eaten on their way.
Sadly I cannot give any hint because I do not own any such devices. Perhaps someone else owning these devices can help you.

The Garmin 19x HVS is even able to send GPS data at 10 HZ, that is sending data 10 times more often than only once a second. So the bottle neck of your installation seems to be the Furuno part.
