A brief overview of Watermakers:

Most R/O Membranes in the marine market are manufactured by Filmtec* http://www.dow.com/liquidseps/index.htm
, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical. Membranes are designed to work at a certain flow rate and pressure. Significant deviations from these design parameters will result in lower-quality product water (higher levels of dissolved solids) and shortened membrane life (increased fouling). A higher-rated membrane, operated less (or at lower pressure) will last longer.

Filmtec membrane #SW30-2521 is rated 200 GPD, and the #SW30-2540 is rated 540 GPD.

FYI: Excerpted from a PM from Hector:
”...I have a fishing ship and it needs a watermaker and a communications equipemente.
Effectively, the water needs daily are aprox 300 Gal
And the fishing area is about 3000 miles from the port, in Costa Rica...”
