I concur that you need representation, a surveyor definitely, and I would suggest a lawyer (solicitor) rather than a buyer's broker, as they will have access to security documentation that a buyer's broker may not. Also, see if it is possible to buy the boat using a Letter of Credit rather than pre-payment. That way you will have some recourse if the boat is not as described, or just does not arrive.
